We're on a break.

Hello cake lovers!

First of all, thanks so very much for visiting the site and just so you know, your comments warm the cold, cold cockles of my heart. I'm so thankful for all the support (and orders) I've gotten and I feel so lucky to get to do this but as circumstances have arisen, specifically the impending arrival of our daughter, I have to say with a heavy heart that The Atomic Cake Co is going on sabbatical. Don't cry, it's not forever, just until we can all get ourselves adjusted and worked out. I'm hoping the new year not only brings me more cake time but an actual storefront to do it from so until then, I bid thee adieu.

Yours truly and forever in cake,
Amy

Day Vs. Night

This is my second contest entry. Here's the design:

Here it is in cake:

You have to look at it upside down to get the full effect.

Loving The Alien

I entered an online cake contest at www.threadcakes.com and this is my first entry. The design it's based on is called Self Portrait.

Here's the design from the site:
Here it is translated into cake:

Harlow

I've decided to include a sketches here and there so you can see how close (or how different) a cake turns out from idea to dessert. Sometimes I know exactly what I want and other times is a see how it goes process. This one was pretty close.

Garden Fairy

This was a garden fairy cake for a little girl's 1st birthday.

This is probably one of my favorite cakes.

In case you're wondering, that's a tiny fondant onesie with a drum set on it. I love this cake.

Wedding Portrait

This was for the 45th wedding anniversary of my childhood neighbors. The Mrs used to babysit my sister and I. I really like these photo cakes. It makes them very personal and all her boys are on there with her.

Finding Memo

So, this was a 100th birthday cake for my friend Erica's great-grandma, who they call Memo, which I love because I called my own granny Meemaw. I really loved the colors and the simple design. I also made the birthday girl her very own mini-cake, covered in handmade fondant roses.
